11 second club

Hey everyone,

Check out this site http://www.11secondclub.com/
Think this site was mentioned a couple of times during the year but never really checked it out until now. It looks like a great place to practice animation, i think it caters for 3d, 2d and stop-mo. Anyone with more details/experience about this site please put it up here.

cheers, Yen

What's that coming over the hills? Is it an army of gnomes? A brigade of bikini models? No, it's just a lousy animatic. What a letdown.

Complete with embarrassing voice talent, on my behalf. Jono does a good job.

Comic

Yeah this was unexpected, and I have zero time so I whipped this up in a few minutes. If this is an ongoing thing that'll continue, I'll put more thought into the artwork and the gag next time.

FROM THE CUPBOARD

This is NOT a film festival

Hello all Animation students and Graduates.

Someone had the commendable idea of launching this blog, as a means to help current students and graduates network, as well as keep in contact.

As we've all learnt the hard way, Animation is very time consuming. You can only get so much done on your own. In the Industry you will be working in massive teams, So the brains behind the blog decided that now is the time to start shaking those inhibitions, and start reaching out to fellow animators.

Chances are, people will be busy with their own personal lives. They may skim over the blog, or shrug it off completely, So for a little added incentive, I've got in contact with a man named BEN.

Ben hosts a night called "This is NOT a film festival"
Description:
This is NOT a Film Festival is a strictly noncompetitive monthly event existing to give exposure to locally made short films that may otherwise get lost within the parade of Von Triers and Chan-Wook Parks of larger film festivals. Alright, you got me. It's a film festival, but without crack-addled mascots.

“this is NOT a film festival” is a monthly short film event held at the much loved café / gallery space / cinema “1000 £ bend” in little lonsdale st melbourne.

there are SO many good film makers and SO many good films in melbourne, that aren’t getting the audiences they deserve.

“this is NOT a film festival” is about getting these films shown: to a willing and supportive audience.

unlike a film festival, “this is NOT a film festival” places emphasis on the films, not on winners or prizes, because we feel that films should be made to be seen, just like we go to the cinema to see a feature film. otherwise they end up on the film maker’s website (if they are lucky enough to have one)...to be seen by no one...but their mums.

the event is a celebration of the spirit of independent, interesting and original storytelling.

we look for diverse voices and films that push the limits of style and narrative. you watch.

so each month, come to 1000 £ bend, and watch some really good short films.

Ben has offered to let us screen our movies, and enter the event for free. Perhaps there will even be some drink cards thrown into the deal, who knows.

All I need from the animators, Is everyone's Movie, and written permission that you want your movie to be shown (though I can't think of reasons why you wouldn't.) I assume Jack Parry has made a giant compilation of all of the movies, which would be the most convenient option. So I will email him.

So from here I suppose you make a post, stating that your happy to have your film shown. Then in January (me thinks) everyone will gather, and everyone will get blind drunk.
Feel free to Submit your artwork as well, as the more artistic and captivating the blog is, the more follows, the bigger army.

The screening

The screening was a success, although some films did not get shown due to error, which was a shame.

A congratulations to all the 3rd years now graduates, well done, keep animating, keep doing what you do and stay in touch.

Wish you luck in the big wide world of animation.
